KJ Bolden Targetting

Watching the replay it looks like he went as low as he could go, trying his best not to target, but the receiver also goes low, resulting in incidental* targeting.
I have googled looking for a clean clip of the replay in slow mo, mostly tik tock garbage.
Do any of yall have a gif in slow mo of this?

Don’t have the clip but I totally agree. They have to do something in regards to targeting when the ball carrier is the one ducking his head. It’s clear KJ was going for hat on ball to dislodge and the 6’3” guy turtled.

And on the next drive UGA had, there was an actual defenseless receiver in the air who only had one foot on the ground before the AU defender goes helmet to helmet with him. No flag. No booth-initiated replay for targeting.

He put his helmet on the ball, Matt Austin and the doucher announcers never pointed out the obvious.
That was a really poor officiating crew.

It's cliche and obvious, but see what you're hitting and this wont happen.

It wasn't targeting for helmet to helmet it was targeting kj hitting buddy with crown of his helmet. Textbook targeting. That's how you break your neck.

On this call, it wasn't the on field crew who called it. It was not called targetting on the field.
The SEC Office called in to stop the game and initiated the review.

What got KJ was leading with the crown of his helmet. Which I would argue he was guilty of. Just glad it was a 1st half penalty and not a 2nd and 1st half of the next game.

There's a lot of participation vouching remorse going on around here lately. Full of regrets.

He was guilty of that but he was aiming for the ball, not Wilson’s head. Even if his head is up it’s likely called targeting because the way Wilson turtled made helmet to helmet contact unavoidable unless KJ pulled up completely and caught him.

I wouldn't call it clean, but here's a video on youtube that you can slow down to quarter speed or less. Probably the best view is at about the 30 second mark.

Level of the tackle was fine, just has to put head to the side of body and make first impact with shoulder and wrap up. Almost looks like he mistimed the tackle trigger and his head went straight into body instead of to the side.

Right but the on field crew had their little mini tv tripod thingy where the onfield ref could have said he hit the ball.

What's your opinion of the no-call on the next UGA offensive drive where a receiver actually was in the air making a catch and the UF defender popped him helmet to helmet?

Wasn't able to watch much because my wife and I just our first baby and are still in hospital :)
I'll try to find it though

Sucks to realize that the rules mean that we're never going to get another Greg Blue. The days of de-cleaters and wedge busters are over.

Looked like he hit him in the chest with the crown of his helmet. That's why they guy came out and didn't play the rest of the game. Text book targeting.
