NOTES:
-SP+ and FEI are both now all in on Bama being legit, CF Nerds still have us bouncing around at or outside the top 10 as they have since Vandy

OFFENSE:
-SC is a team in absolute crisis on offense (100th in adjusted scoring) from a coaching and execution standpoint, but there are some minor signs of life
-Sellers is sitting at 142 from a QB RTG standpoint (10th SEC) with only 5TDs on the year, but is shockingly at 17th in the nation in terms of adjusted YPA
-Meanwhile their offense is sitting at barely 3 YPC (113th in adjusted YPC)
-Bama meanwhile is chugging along at 16th in adjusted scoring, 11th in adjusted YPA and despite all appearances is only 28th in adjusted YPC meaning it will take a very strong defensive performance or great edge pressure to slow Bama down

DEFENSE:
-SC is a good, not elite by any means defensive unit YTD thats been left to die by an inefficient offense
-Theyre sitting at 24th in adjusted scoring, 48th in adjusted YPA against the pass and 37th in adjusted YPC against the run
-In other words, they're solid, but realistically not particularly good at anything
-Bama on the other hand is 7th in adjusted scoring, 15th in adjusted YPA against the pass and 70th in adjusted YPC against the run

OVERALL:
-If SC could run the ball, Bama could have a major problem, but YTD they just cant
-The only warning sign I see here for Bama is based on timing (post TN win, pre BYE, pre LSU) and the fact that they have a better version of Tommy Castellanos from a team on the road similar in current profile to FSU

Ty's not buying the trap game nonsense. He knows a road game in the SEC is always a test, and SC still has some dudes out there on defense.

Sellers had a long run of 14 yards last year in Tuscaloosa, but other than that he was held in check on the ground. Unfortunately he had a fairly solid day through the air 23/31 238 2 TD's 1 INT, so it would be unwise to think shutting down his running would limit his success.

Bama should win, but we're all aware of how these road games can go. Hopefully we cruise and have a stress-free afternoon rolling into the bye week.

Looks like he sleeps with his forearm call sheet on. It seems like we are light years away from last year in terms of leadership. Feel pretty good about this game. Hopefully it's straight forward without injuries.

The big thing with South Carolina is that their defense is pretty solid but typically not getting help. However, a home game against a reputable offense and highly ranked team is a way for these defenders to put some highlight tape up for scouts. Furthermore they have three Alabama players who are contributing or starting on their defense. So there will be a bit of a "show em I ain't forgot about em" factor too.

I'd bet on Okoronkwo to be flying all over the place on Saturday. As I've said elsewhere, Stewart's effort has been questioned by some South Carolina fans I know but usually loafing pass rushers are licking their chops to put an elite quarterback's arse in the dirt because they know people are watching. We all know he's an elite talent, I'd bet on his best this Saturday.

If their defense has an especially good game because 3-4 guys are playing a bit above their normal production due to individual motivation, all the sudden Sellers and his ability to make a half dozen individual effort plays at QB per game becomes a real concern.

Ultimately though, it is the same story every week: if the OL avoids jailbreaks that even Ty's quick processing and release can't beat then we're in very good shape to get a win. The better we play in the first half, the more likely we're not fretting the 4th quarter all too much. Bad start, probably a surprisingly tight game in the making.

I’m seeing Lotzier Brooks is doubtful. Danny Lewis is out and Geno VanDeMark is questionable.

I remember when he played for us. Was highly rated but didn't show that much on the field.

I THOUGHT I recognized that name as a former player, but I wasn't sure. Thank you.

Alabama Football issued its second availability report of the week on Thursday evening.

Four Crimson Tide players were featured on the initial report. Linebackers Jah-Marien Latham (neck), Qua Russaw (foot) and Cayden Jones (ankle) and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman (knee) are all out. Latham and Beaman are both out for the remainder of the 2025 season, and Russaw and Jones recover from surgeries to repair their respective injuries.

New to the report on Thursday were three players. Tight end Danny Lewis was ruled out, and has dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season. Wide receiver Lotzeir Brooks was added to the report and listed as doubtful, while offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark was added to the report and listed as questionable.
