2 months after Elvis died.

Both should be national days of mourning.

You young posters will not understand the meaning both these awful events had on people alive at the time.

I was in 9th grade when they crashed. By far my favorite group of all time. Their music is timeless. I was also a huge Elvis fan. I was visiting my cousins in Houma. We were riding dirt bikes when one of the other cousin came out to tell us. Horrible year for music.

The singer who most forget passed away the same year was Bing Crosby.

That needless and preventable plane crash was the most gut wrenching loss of musical greatness in US history. One can only imagine the heights Lynyrd Skynyrd would have reached with Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines collaborating for years together.

Ronnie had that soul in his voice that you don't hear anymore.

It was a little ahead of my time, but time doesnt apply to greatness...you know greatness when you hear it. The freebird solo is top 3.....its everything Americana south jammed into a 4 minute masterpiece.

I suppose some of y’all listened to ARS as well? Certainly not Skynyrd caliber but still enjoyable southern rock.
