So I’m not as in tune with cfb as I used to be, but why is Penn State so eager to get rid of Franklin? What he did at Vandy pre-NIL, what’s he’s done for Penn State after the pedo era. Being honest, no exaggeration, the first thing that still comes to my mind with Penn State is pedophilia. That image won’t disappear anytime soon.

And yet, he still pushed that program way behind its potential. Penn State can’t do better.

Franklin deserves better.

$49 million to leave.

Only person I ever heard of getting it any better is Jimbo Fisher.

Paying coaches and now players millions, short leashes for under performing.

Totally different game now. Coming off a year like 2024 would've almost made you safe as could be a couple decades ago. But everyone is paying high dollar for championships now. If the belief is you can't get to that level, you're done.

I just don’t think Penn State has the might to get past Wisconsin in the NIL era. My point is that Franklin pushed that program to be where it is today and yet they have the self awareness of goldfish.

Why do people say his team just ‘’gave up on him’’ or ‘’didn’t want to be there’’?
I watched the highlights and they just looked like they got beat. They were trying to win but the other team was just better….

A lot of schools have money. But Penn State will never supplant Ohio State or Michigan in that region. Franklin routinely recruited classes in the 12-15 range. Yet he was a great evaluator.

They think their program is on par with Bama, UGA, etc when they’re a clear step below that and have been for 40 years since joining the big 10

I’ve had to drive through central PA on the way to Philly for work. Altoona and State College areas are cult like in their obsession for Pennsylvania State. It’s truly strange behavior

Maybe, maybe not.

But their $ guys just put up the 2nd largest buyout in CFB history. I don't think they'd do that without ensuring the $ for a good new coach and the additional $ for NIL.

Who would have had a big buyout at UK.

And right now TAMU has a 6th ranked recruiting class for '26 and 3rd ranked for '27.

Penn State is about to spend a lot more money.

Because FANS EVERYWHERE are deluded to think that a9-10 win seasons aren’t good enough and those coaches suck.LSU fans want a coach that has won 300+ games gone because he’s a bad coach.

Yeah, I’m not sure about the decision to fire him, but I wouldn’t frame it as a coach deserving better. They’re more than fairly compensated for their troubles.

To be fair, he is a little underwhelming. Franklin’s the more resourceful coach, as shown at Vanderbilt, let alone a socially tainted program like Penn State.

I’d be spending that much too if my degree was tainted like that. The better you are, the shorter the bad memories are, the lower the acceptance rate yields, and employers respect your school again.

Nowhere on Earth is failure rewarded so richly, as a fired head coach at a college.
