DJ was so hurt he had to sit out of Spring camp. Ok, yeah it happens sometimes. But he was really hurt if he needed all the way to Week 1 before suiting up.

What was Napier’s plan if DJ wasn’t healthy enough come Week 1? Doesn’t the program have specialists who can objectively say, “Coach, it’s a 50/50 shot DJ will be healthy in time”.

Being a multimillion dollar coach, isn’t BN smart enough to think “Hmmm, maybe I need a Plan B ready just in case QB1 can’t go.”

Was it all just hope and prayers DJ would come in game ready in Week 1 with zero snaps in the previous 8 months?

You gotta have a backup. You just gotta! What would BN do if DJ reaggravated his injury? “Oh well, guess we’ll prep for ‘27. Scott will give me another year because I’m a good guy”.

It is egregious to not have a backup game-ready KNOWING your starter is 50/50. And by game-ready, I mean mentally tough as well as know the playbook. Pick someone in the spring and then use the Fall camp to coach him up.

And with that being the logical plan for any intelligent head coach, why not use your game-ready backup at LSU after your injured starter has thrown three picks? You’re still in the game. You have a chance for a ‘W’!!!

I’m at a total loss.

Lagway not having surgery after the bowl game but sitting out all that time never made any sense to me. I am not nearly as worried now about injuries as I am that Lagway may be a QB that struggles with reading a defense. I never thought much about it before the S FL game but there were a few Gator fans saying Lagway has never really shown he can read a defense good and Tulane was the first team to really test him on that some. They claimed most of his big plays were passes to guys against man coverage mostly. Now that all the teams will be running the same blueprint we may be in real trouble if he doesn't learn to read things better and get better at the intermediate stuff. I really hope we don't have another Driskel/Franks/Richardson situation at QB.

The answer is no. Fill in the blank with whatever you want, the answer is no.

Yep, Napier is flat out plain ole dumb, generally speaking. Smart enough to seize opportunity for payday when he bluffed and hustled his way to millions off the Gators with his good guy schtick in interviews apparently, which makes the ones who hired him seem dumber. The scared money don't make money grift was just for his money and not for the Gators.

If Lagway shows the same signs of struggling against Miami I really want to believe we'll see Jones, or anyone else get some snaps. That probably won't happen based on Napier's comments this week though.

Yep. I can recall previous blowout losses under Napier, Texas specifically, where I was asking myself, “The game is over in the third, why doesn’t Billy give the younger guys some snaps to develop them,”

He’s that darn stubborn. Can’t see he is the problem.

I am old enough to remember the pre Pell / Hall times when UF was losing to UK. Maybe this view is a bit out there but cocaine in the late 70's and early 80's seems to dovetail the success of the 3 Florida schools (UF, FSU, and U). Conference expansion has probably not helped as all the additions (SC, AR, MO, TAMU, OU, and Utx all have average to above average football teams.

Napier is not the guy, but maybe 8-4 types teams are more the norm going forward. On the flip side the greed by all parties has gotten so great in the past generation, will we even have CFB a generation from now?

I can't belive during the press conference he let it out that Warner was likely the #3 QB over Bailey. Just shows how idiotic Napier can be just like playing Warner over the CSU transfer last season. We are lucky the freshman at least got moved to #2 over Warner. Just like with refusing to give up play calling Napier is an idiot.

You think he has a plan beyond one? Have you ever seen our games? He does not adjust, if plan A fails..there is no plan B so he will force plan A if it works or not(it almost never does verse decent or good teams)
