LSU v Florida week

In honor of LSU Florida week, here is a bit of history on the series:
LSU and Florida have played every year since 1953 with the exception of one 3-game stretch between 1968-70. That's 69 games in 72 years. The current series record is 34-34-3. And yes I'm including 3 games LSU won on the field (2013-15) but aren't currently included in the record books in order to show how crazy even this series has been.
I'm not sure how the SEC gets rid of this one in the new 9 game format.

It’s a good series, and it’s a game that has gotten heated a few times.
I went to an LSU v Florida game one time in the early 2000s in BR. Florida won and they were obnoxiously gator chomping all over the place.
So I can see why there is extra motivation to win that game convincingly.

Had to be either 2001 or 2003. I was at both. Both miserable. Spurrier's last game against us (at Fla) was in 2001 (killed us as always), and LSU and UGA both got beat by Ron Zook in 2003. That was LSU's only loss that year, and UGA's only three losses were two to LSU and that one to FLA. Yet, they still managed to go 8-5.

I was at the 2001 game. LSU fans were Tigerbaiting me on the way in, but not on the way out. Spurrier and Grossman spanked Saban's defense pretty good that day 44-15 for the good guys. I remember a front came in and it got cold that day.

I sat in Florida section with my aunt and uncle (die hard Gator fans) when Emmitt Smith rushed Florida in position to win by a field goal in Tiger Stadium

Spurrier drug his nuts on us every year I was in school, except for the epic upset in 1997. It was the only time I ever rushed the field in Tiger Stadium. It was a great experience. This probably won't be one of our permanent games, and I hate to see that go away.

The SEC doesnt have FL-LSU or FL-TN as a top priority though we might get one of the 2 teams.

Sucks but true. I wish it were not the case. The LSU games have been fun in my lifetime and it always fun to crush UT dreams early like Spurrier and Meyer did..now..Third Saturday is not important it seems.
