We had another great turnout this week, and I am happy to share the Official Week 2 Power Rankings. For the season, we have had just shy of 2,000 votes. This board really is impressive.

As always, I recommend skipping the list here and watching the two reveal videos below:

Rant

Tough road win at UK. Young team. Has its issues, but no time to breathe. Next up Arky.

We shat the bed, but it turns out we actually passed out on top of a sewer grate, so no harm no foul.

I haven't seen this level of ineptitude from Kentucky since Joker Phillips

Hey Ole Miss, there’s a pack headed your way and the forecast calls for pain

Keeping Marcel throwing while getting O line to now work on run blocking. You can see them continuing to add on. Defense held them to 61 total yards 1st half. Then after first drive full of ticks track penalties out the 2nd half they put in backups to get time so happy with defense. Kicker is going to lose us a game a la 2012 all over again. Think ND is beatable. I see it being close with A&M on final drive getting TD/FG to win.

frick kU

Beat AZ St. in what was one of the greatest endings to a State football game in my many decades of watching. HAIL STATE! TGRIND IS BACK! (maybe)

The devil went down to Starkville, he was looking for a win but as he got there he realized it’s so damn loud he ran back to his den.

Panel Notes

Beat the crap out of Arkansas State, as expected. As far as Ole Miss, I think the Hogs match up well, could end up being a slug fest.

Survived and that is all we could have asked for. Week 3 we need to see the defense step up as we don't know who will be taking snaps on the offensive side. Simmons desperately needs the reps before LSU comes to town in a coupe of weeks.

Came out flat AGAIN. This really seems ro be a problem under Kelly. We need to play a complete game from start to finish.

Looked bad against La Tech. Hope is was vanilla on purpose.

Dominant in all phases. Was great seeing young guys come in as the game was out of hand for ULM, and the team still played with great intensity. Hope to see them keep that effort up.

Much improved in all facets - a complete departure from what we saw against Florida State. Even against a completely outmatched opponent, it’s difficult to reach the level of execution we saw Saturday vs ULM.

Alabama got (hopefully) back on track with a 73-0 dismantling of longtime rival, ULM. Three Crimson Tide QBs through for multiple scores and the defense pitched a shutout for the second time under Kalen DeBoer. Next up is a home game against Wisconsin at 11 AM and 115 degrees.

We played well but it’s against one of the worst teams in the FBS. It’s a good sign the team didn't think they won the game by getting off the bus. If they put in that much effort against the rest of the teams on the schedule we’ll only lose games because our DC doesn’t know how to adjust. His defensive playbook is like mine in NCAA 26, there are 10-12 plays.

It felt like about as bad of a game as we could have possibly played. A couple bad turnovers, a lack of confidence throwing the ball downfield from the QB but thankfully we played an FCS opponent that did not have enough to truly hurt us. First real test next week in Neyland. Time to see if this defense is as good as we think it is.

Vanderbilt exceeded expectations. Expected another close game like last season, with the added toughness of playing a revenge game on the road. Vanderbilt continuously shot themselves in the foot in the first half, turning what should have been a lead into multiple penalties, two turnovers and a 10-point halftime deficit. In the second half Vandy took Virginia Tech behind the woodshed and showed them an old-fashioned southern whoopin' by outscoring them 34-0 and outgaining them 307-21.
