quit on their own accord.

perkins got offered the head coaching and GM job with tampa bay and he took due to the pressure of the bama job

curry was an odd choice, he had no bama ties he was head coach at georgia tech, 7 seasons with a 31-43-4 record. the season before he took the bama job he was 5-5-1

the best record he ever had in his entire lousy career was at alabama.

26-10 in three seasons with his best being his last year when he went 10-2 with a sugar bowl appearance. someone threw a brick through his office window so he left to go to kentucky where in 7 seasons he compiled a 26-52 record without ever haven a winning season.

if DeBoer were smart he'd tell his agent to get him the he11 out of there, he probably won't in this age of "pay dat man, pay dat man hes money" survive as long as he can a generational fortune awaits. i've seen bama be mortal i was 26 when curry became coach. i look forward to the he was to have saban ties years!

Technically Curry resigned but they forced his hand.

You bring up an interesting point in the whole “does Alabama make the coach or does the coach make Alabama” debate. Many coaches have their most success at Alabama. Here are the winning percentages of coaches by chronological job stop.

Bear Bryant

Kentucky: 72.2%
Texas A&M: 64.1%
Alabama: 83.5%

Perkins:

NFL: 40.4%
Alabama: 68.1%
NFL: 31.7%
Arkansas State: 18.2%

Curry

Georgia Tech: 41.9%
Alabama: 72.2%
Kentucky: 33.3%
Georgia State: 30.3%

Stallings:

Texas A&M: 37.5%
NFL: 40.5%
Alabama: 81.4%

Dubose (Alabama): 51.1%

Shula (Alabama): 53.1%

Saban:

Toledo: 81.8%
Michigan State: 58.6%
LSU: 75%
NFL: 46.9%
Alabama: 87.4%

Mike Shula and Mike Dubose have no other D1 or NFL head coaching jobs to compare to.

Football has changed. But it is interesting that every coach at Alabama from Bryant to Saban had more success at Alabama than any other job stop. Sometimes it was an extreme difference.

they stipulated that he couldn't hire his own assistant coaches which i guess is kinda the same thing as showing a coach the door.ya'll dodged the bullet on him he stunk as a coach. he's always came across to me as even a worse human being.

the first thing he did at georgia tech was fire steve spurrier as the QB coach

Alabama was the only school Curry had a career winning record at as coach. Looking back, the fact he won 72% of his games at Alabama seems miraculous compared to what he did everywhere else.

Curry wasn’t bad at Alabama. They improved every year he was there. 1988 loss to Ole Miss and 0-3 against Auburn did him in. Auburn was very good in the late 80s, though.
