This is a really interesting move. He has a $16M player option for 2026 that he is almost guaranteed to pick up, so this is your starting shortstop for next season. Braves taking a bit of a gamble that he can get back to his old self (2021-2023).

Also, the fact that they're willing to spend $16M for next season on a bit of an unknown tells me they're going to open the wallet this winter.

This backs AA's statement up that he made after the trade dradline that they were starting the off-season and building for '26 now. Kim is definitely the starting SS next season and if can get back to his 20-23 form we're golden.

Agreed.

And also, Kim is a Boras client. This might mean hopefully Dylan Cease.

It took two games for Kim to hit a homer. That was the first homer the Braves have gotten from a SS all season

He’s going to be our SS next year. Has A 16 million player option. Highly doubt he turns that down to test the market.

Hmmm so it seems ss has come off the table for off season targets. Could we actually be looking for Marte?
