Just watched those plays again and 50% of the bad results on plays was Lagway being rusty from being limited in camp probably. We had about 5 or so bad plays where the blocking let us down and needs to get better. Hansen twice messed up on blocking which blew up 2 Trey Wilson plays. On one he was just timid on the blocking which allowed the safety to shoot right past him and on the other one the safety did a spin and instead of sealing him off he was too timid in his reaction and it forced Trey Wilson back to the other defenders to tackle him. Never paid attention much to Hansen blocking before but he should have just blown the first safety up and sealed the second one instead of allowing him to be able to redirect the play. George on a rushing play we fumbled totally whiffed on his block and later on a passing play kept following a defender with his eyes that was out of his area then that allowed someone to shoot right through his gap untouched. Livingston when we were near the goal line allowed a safety to shoot right through and destroy the play. If we have similar screw ups against South Florida they could probably hang with us and any good SEC team would likely beat us. Luckily this was game one.

Unlike what some were thinking last night it looked like RT Lovett didn't play that bad.

I doubt you will see us be that lateral again moving forward. When we struggled on offense, it was due to missed assignments in blocking and trying to force the ball to the perimeter. We did that to get DJ into the flow of game action.

My positives: Our run game with Baugh and DJ in the RZ.

Yep I doubt we have the same # of whiffs in game 2. I hope Lagway is in full form by week 3 and most of the rust is gone this coming game.

My biggest take is that DJ needs reps, and my other one is that Billy has his most talented team here.

And we will be good if Billy doesn't screw it up.
