Jabari Smith
Walker Kessler

Going back and watching.... man, if we had some good PGs to go along with them...

Smith and Kessler were very good. Kessler was an amazing shot blocker. Smith was 6'10 and smooth.

Such a big “what if” team. Like if NIL had come just months earlier than it did, Shariffe Cooper could have been feeding those guys. UGH

We needed guards so bad then.

Fastforward to 2022 I remember the landmark NIL date occurred the summer after Scoot Henderson chose G League because I remember asking if NIL will be legal July 1st can we keep him and promise to pay him then.

Wendell got way too much hate. The real problem is most of our minutes at the 2 and 3 were going to Zep, KD, Cambridge, and Flanigan in his rehab year

No I liked Wendy his only issue was being ohfer on clutch shots other than a putback against Georgia after the defender already fell to the ground.

Zep was bad. His offense never improved and his defense regressed over years.

KD was our consolation prize to Scoot Henderson and he regressed. They were very lean years at the guard position.

Walker was a rare breed of 7+ footer in college. He was naturally athletic and could actually put on weight and muscle, and it helped him defensively more than anything. Pay attention to the big guys in college. There are 7 footers everywhere, and most of them can't block a shot consistently to save their lives. Walker could do it, and still recover to make a rebound if he missed, which many big men can't.

Walker is just good, man. His rebounding jump this season for the Jazz (despite the misery of the tank) has been amazing to watch. He's arguably the best rebounder in the league right now, and is still one of the top shot blockers.

I hope he doesn't waste away in Utah, and they can either build a competitive team or trade him to someone that can win some games.

That team could have made a Final Four run as it was. Just had Jabari and Kessler have their worst game of the year at the same time, worst possible time. Dumb luck that year.

They could have, but I think it was the Missouri game where we barely escaped - subsequent games got really difficult when opponents knew exactly how to defend what we put on the floor. Miami just swallowed us whole.
