College basketball is best when Duke is the Goliath and Duke has a certain number of private school-looking white boys and gets everybody's best shot. Arizona played its nuts off yesterday, but it still wasn't enough.
Whatever you feel about Duke, college basketball is way more memorable and iconic when Duke is elite.
I have no idea who Auburn beat in the Elite 8 to get to the Final Four in whatever year that was or South Carolina when they made the Final Four that year, but if Alabama beats Duke tomorrow night, it will be iconic and I'll always remember who Alabama beat to get to the Final Four.

Not trying to troll or trash talk I promise, but I bet you a 10 dollar Visa gift card that the Alabama/Duke game viewership tomorrow will be 50 percent higher or maybe even double whoever Auburn played in the Elite 8 that year.
College basketball can only be transcendent when Duke is the 800 pound white gorilla.
I am sorry that nobody outside of hardcore college basketball fans remember Auburn's tournament run in 2017.

Auburn UK in the Elite 8 was an iconic game that year. You don't watch basketball, we get it.

If the Duke/Alabama game hits +!90 and it's a really good game and close game, I promise you that it will be the most relevant and most discussed college basketball game in at least 2 decades.
If college basketball nerds want to grow the game and reach the point where college basketball isn't just a one month a year sport for the casual sports fan, they should embrace it.
What's so difficult to understand about that?
