Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas should be forced to fix this. Rye grows in cold weather for crying out loud. Conference is too good for this garbage.

OU actually changed to turf in 2016. Its because the seasons are so early now weather plays a factor. And with turf you can practice more on your regular field which helps players.

They won’t be changing it.

What in the world is Georgia’s excuse? You’ve got a beautiful grass field just down the road from you. Have their staff come out and show you how it’s done, if needed.

You know Baum Stadium is an hour further north of Norman right?

We have extremely limited space to host camps postseason, to build any indoor training facility (beyond the batting cages and pitching lab we just added) to use during inclement weather, and to house turf/dirt mgmt equipment while expanding our stadium in what space we do have. After Supers last year, the grass was in really visibly bad shape because of the extensive use and the heat index rising so quickly from May to June.

All in all turf sucks but it ultimately allows us to build the park we want and play games/host camps and recruits without having to resod the whole park every year in rough summer conditions. Its by no means sexy but its pragmatic

I personally would love to have grass. Just posting why they did it. To them it makes sense for game and practice reasons. To the purist it sucks.

No coincidence that these are the most white trash states in the conference.
