Went there in grad school, lived in Kingsport for a bit. All these fools west of Morristown know nothing of Pal’s fries. Most Tennesseans don’t realize there’s anything east of Knoxville

I mean…yeah lol

Not a lot of big city attractions in far east TN but I’d take the solitude and the mountains over some of the other overrated shite holes in TN (looking at you Nashville)

Exactly. The Tri-Cities/Northeast Tennessee is some of the best in the country when it comes to nature. IYKYK.

And don't hate on the fries, JC has a Krystal too

/s

I'm kind of glad you swamp rats aren't up in that area of our woods, it'd be weird and us hillbillies would take you to the mine shaft up in the holler and you'll never be seen again. Just ask Mamie White

I have never been to... nor do much about East Tennessee State...

But back in the day they had some 5'8" basketball dude named Mister Jennings who damn near took down one of the best Oklahoma teams in OU's history by himself.

Oh, and when I was a freshman in high school... they had some Irish dude named Neil Cusak who won the NCAA cross country... mostly because Steve Prefontaine skipped that year due to the Olympics being in September.
Cusak went on to win the Boston Marathon right after he got out of ETSU.

Used to go to lots of ETSU basketball games during the 2nd glory days under Ed DeChellis and early Bartow when I was youngster in the Tri Cities.

Tim Smith, Zakee Wadood, Ben Rhoda

Had Wake on the ropes as a #15 in 2003 and couldn't finish the job

Had a shot at #1 seed Pitt as a #16 in 2009, too. Down 2 with 4 minutes to play, but couldn't get over the hump.

ETSU undergraduate alum here.

Also UT grad school alum.

We’ve generally always had solid men’s basketball teams. Bartow wasted more talent than any coach I’ve seen though.

I’m still pissed that 30-4 team that Steve Forbes had didn’t get a chance to make a Sweet 16 run because of Covid. Beat LSU and Georgia that year.

Randy’s replacement sucked. Terrible AD suck off hire.

Our coach last year, one and done, at Tulsa now.

New coach, Will Healy, worked that portal like a champ and we’re going to have a squad. He’ll probably be one and done too if former Michigan QB McNamara plays to his potential.

Yep - likely would have been an 11/12 seed with a real shot at advancing.

SoCon was legit that 2-3 year period, too. UNCG, Wofford, Furman and ETSU were all Top 100 level good over that period.

I think Tre Lamb is going to be a great coach, he just needs to slow down and build at Tulsa
