NCAA tourney related to the SEC will be very interesting

I assume everyone remembers that the SEC football teams overall were vastly overrated as proven by the bowl games, playoffs, etc. We could be looking at deja vu all over again.
I see some huge warning flags for several teams...like ranked ones like Miss State, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Missouri, and once ranked Texas. Maybe the SEC will hold up during the NCAA basketball tournament but I highly doubt it. 9 SEC teams ranked in the top 25 IMO is total fantasy.

Except the SEC is ranked high in basketball because they already played and beat all the other top 40 teams around the country. They are rated there based on tangible results outside the SEC not because people think they might be good.

I’m thinking OP didn’t watch any games before conference play started.
Auburn and Alabama especially, but not just them, won numerous games against ranked OOC opponents.

I didn't. For the record you notice I didn't mention the teams from the state of Alabama. As far as the other poster and you talking about OOC games, how many did they lose? Also, and more importantly, OOC games as we all know are almost completely at the first of the season. IMO, judging teams qualify via games played months ago is useless. As I mentioned Texas used to be considered a high quality team in the SEC. After that loss to S Carolina there is serious doubt they will even make the NCAA tourney.

Alabama and Auburn played the 2 toughest OOC schedules in America and went a combined 23-3

Are you discrediting the historic non-conference performance the SEC put up this season? There was no doubt, even early on, that the SEC was the strongest conference in basketball this season.
That said, matchups mean everything in the tournament.

Take a team like State. They've been hanging around the 17-25 ranking all year, they go 1-1 every week in the SEC. They have a win over a probable 2-3 seed in A&M, went 3-0 against other P4 teams and have a really good win at Memphis.
They are projected as a 5 seed. They already have a win over the top protected 12 seed McNeese, so if they get by the tricky 5-12 matchup, what four seed wants to play them?
Right now, they are projected to play Michigan in the 5-4 matchup. Michigan went 0-2 against the SEC this season, both against bottom half teams.
A team like State (and Ole Miss, Missouri) are second weekend teams. I bet we see 3-4 SEC vs. SEC matchups in the second weekend.

Yep. Auburn's only OOC loss is to the #3 team in the country. (The other is to #2). 4-1 against the current AP top 25 out of conference including Iowa St and Houston, which are currently top 10 teams. UNC was ranked when we beat them, but they don't even contribute to that OOC top 25 record.
I know Bama has some good OOC wins too. As you said, it's not like the SEC sucked against the OOC schedule. Hell I think even OU had a great record before conference play started.

When? Their fans have been clamoring to fire the coach since conference play started.

Texas has won 3 Top 25 games...teams still ranked in the top 25.

The conference record in non-con games was 179-22 (could be off a game or two). Every team in the conference had at least ten wins entering into conference play.

All to SEC teams which you claim are overrated.

Yeah, I saw that...as I said before, that happened early in the season. Michigan is one of those teams that has improved as the season unfolded. Anyway, I have made my prediction. And for those who keep bringing up Alabama and Auburn who did most of the damage OOC as I documented, I never criticized them. I do say that the SEC has some pretenders in the top 25.

Nope, Texas beat A&M as one of the 3 and I didn't even mention them.

Yet, they just got destroyed by one of the teams you did mention just a week ago.
The point is there a lot of really good teams in the conference that can play with just about anyone.

The most damning evidence that the SEC is overrated is the fact that it is just a lowly .500 in conference play.

True. The same thing happened in football.

Outside of Duke the SEC has beaten basically all non-SEC top 25 opponents.
Duke beat Auburn but they were at home and it was by 6.
If anything Alabama (my team) may have questions because we lost to Oregon and Purdue but we lost a key starter in Wrightsell and our key freshman Reid basically doesn't play.
In the end the SEC is actually as good as advertised
