Few are now days, that is why Saban retired so suddenly and unexpectedly. The inmates are running the asylum now. If you discipline players in this era, they will just opt out and transfer.

A coach must have the players’ respect. It has always been that way. imo, Saban did, and DeBoer does not.
It’s that way, even in high school. There is usually a critical moment, usually more than one, and the coach either gains credibility or loses it. My assumption is that DeBoer, when tested, failed.
