No need to apologize. I see what you mean with the ... (didn't know they were called elipses). Fun conversation.
Have a great eve, all. Summer League tomorrow.

Re: Dinky Milberry
Thanks for the clarification. No, I am not. I have always been Purpose16. It derives from a great book I read first in 2016. (Have read it a couple of times since: Pastor Rick Warren's "A Purpose Driven Life."
And again, I apologize, I don't know what elipses are.
(I'm Canadian .... apparently we apologize too frequently). Someone once wrote "you are probably the only Canadian EVER on this board."
Hope are are enjoying a wonderful day.

Thanks all...I guess I overreacted when I saw the two 22 year olds...I am generally a believer in building with youth.
The consensus clearly is we are better off with what we got...appreciate you all informing me.
Have a great Wednesday.

Washington Trades Olynyk

They got two young prospects and a 2nd for him .... EXACTLY the type of trade I have been saying for a long time.
Can someone tell me why Joe couldn't have gotten that return for him ?
I do understand the value of Saddiq Bey....and it is combined with Poole...but still would prefer what Washington got.
Have a great day all.

Sorry...my bad...meant Queen.
Who are you most interested in seeing in our summer league roster ?
Posted by Purpose16 on 6/29/25 at 5:32 pm
Peavy, Fears, Sorber or a dark horse...maybe the Clemson guard ? Dickenson ?
A little underwhelming roster so far, IMO...please correct me if I am wrong.

Opinion Request - UDFA's
Posted by Purpose16 on 6/28/25 at 4:01 pm
Hi folks,
Yet another opinion request from the Canadian. (One respondent suggested I might be the only one of the board....if there is another, please let me know).
Any UDFAs we should consider ? I was bullish on Hunter early in his career...was a five star, if I recall, when he signed with Michigan. I actually like the pick up.
The best fit I see still available (as far as I know) is Clemson centre Lakhin. Would you take him ? Any others you like ?
Hope you all have a wonderful day !

Kalkbrenner at 40 ??
Posted by Purpose16 on 6/25/25 at 1:35 pm
Any chance Kalkbrenner drops to 40 wherein we get him with our new pick ?
NBAdraft.net has him at 32.
Some suggested taking him with our 23rd pick, but I am of the mind that is too early.
Appreciate any thoughts and opinions ...
Have a great day, folks.

Opinion Request - Zion to Charlotte (Bleacher Report - I like it
Posted by Purpose16 on 5/28/25 at 2:26 pm
Good afternoon, folks.
Hope you are all well. Cannot thank you enough for your opinions on the CJ trade I idea I posted. I learn so much from you all re the salary cap, etc.
Bleacher Report has posited the following trade: I like it, but I am not sure Charlotte would as they seem to be giving up a lot.
Zion to Charlotte for Tidjane Saluan, Miles Bridges, 26 1st, nd 28 first. I would assume the 26 would be protected, as according to nbadraft.net it would currently be the third overall. Karim Lopez is the projected pick.
I know Saluan has underpeformed, but there is way too much talent there to overlook. This is the equivalent of a solid veteran and three first round picks. I would do it...not sure Charlotte would
Thoughts ??

Opinion Request - Herb Jones to Memphis
Posted by Purpose16 on 5/15/25 at 12:48 pm
Good afternoon, folks.
I saw this proposed trade on "The Lead," so thought I would solicit your opinions. The article proposes sending Herb to Memphis for a 2027 first (top six protected), Brandon Clarke, and a 2029 first round swap. The kicker is, the first becomes two second round selections if not conveyed.
At first glance, I liked it, but not if it results in the two second rounds. Clarke isn't terrible as a back up. Makes more sense if we land KK or another wing in the draft.
Thoughts ?

A Canadian Duke fan?
I am an oddity for sure, TigerBait.
I coach what you would refer to as AAU basketball, so I tend to follow team who have had a coaching legacy. The Pels are the exception to that rule.
I live in a small city called Stratford, 20 000 people, about an a hour and a half west of Toronto, our biggest city. I became a Pels fan after the AD trade.
Have a great day, TigerBait.

Draft Hopes

Good afternoon, all.
Many threads out there on similiar posts, just thought I would throw my two cents in (Canadian currency):
Admittedly, I am a Duke fan, so my body of knowledge is stronger following their players, but I would take either Kon or Kamen at our spot.
Both games translate well to the NBA. If we keep Yves and Karlo, I would try to convert Karlo to more of a '4' as Kamen is a true lob threat/rim protector...ala Mark Williams/Derick Lively...that's his top side. As I said during each of those other two earlier careers, it is equally true of Kaman - he would improve his stock by learning to jump shoot from 6-10 feet away.
Kon is extremely mature, high basketball IQ, above average defense, and better than you think athleticism multi-skilled. A better version of Brandon Podzjemski at GSW (sorry for the spelling).
Have a great day !

Opinion Requst - SI trades Zion to Pistons
Posted by Purpose16 on 5/12/25 at 12:20 pm
Hi folks,
Thanks to all for the expert analysis when I asked for opinions on a CJ trade.
Anyone who has time to weigh in on this one, I'd be just as appreciative...it is also suggested by SI. The writer proposes sending Zion to Detroit for Jaden Ivey, Bobi Klintmann and two firsts - doesn't say which years, but I just researched and Detroit doesn't have a first this year. I would be okay waiting.
At first I didn't think much of it, but then further analysis tells me that Ivey, as a former first, and Bobi as a 2nd makes it equivalent to three firsts and a second. Not a huge Klitnmann fan, but he might fit. Jaden at the point potentially allows us to move on from either or both of CJ and Murray.
Any and all thoughts and analysis are appreciated.
Enjoy your day !

That's exactly the reason, they need to send out enough salary to take back CJ. We don't want to pay Hardaway enough to make it work. It may also need to be a multi-year deal to qualify as a sign-and-trade.
Again, thanks, Galactic...you have me thinking - if we have to take THJ for more than one season, I don't like it nearly as much. However, as others above noted - and I saw as well - Sasser's role did decline (but my point is at 25 he may have upside yet), and 1st and 2nd isn't bad for CJ.
Also like the respondent who wrote about how professional CJ has been.
Thanks all !

Sorry, may have figured it out...we may have to take back salary. If that is not the reason, please enlighten me.

Thanks Galactic....I wondered about the sign and trade issue.
I checked with HoopsHype and they indicate his salary has expired with the 24-25 season....which makes him a free agent.
Exactly why does he need to be included ? If Detroit doesn't want him, but does want CJ - as SI suggests - why do we have to take him: because I believe as you do, he was the weakest part of the trade...can definitely help someone like the Lakers who are constantly looking for 3 point help, but doesn't fit here.
Why can the trade just be CJ for Sasser, the 29 1st, and the 27 2nd ? I am sure I am missing something obvious. Your expertise - and those of other board members - would be appreciated.
Thanks again, Galactic !

Opinion Request - SI Suggests CJ to Pistons

Good afternoon, folks.
Hope all is well.
Can I solicit your opinions on the following trade suggestion by SI ?
I will venture my 'two cents' in that I think it favours us considerably. I had earlier suggested (or hoped) we might get two 2nd round picks for CJ McCollum. SI has it significantly hire.
SI proposes CJ to Detroit for Sasser (reasonable youth, turns 25 before next season starls, Tim Hardaway Junior, a 2029 first and 2027 second.
According to HoopsHype, THJ's contract is up.
What do you all think ... and why ?
Have a great day !

You may be the only Canadian Pels fan in the history of forever
Thanks SuperSaint.
Not sure if the trade for Olynik brought any more Canadians on board, but I haven't been a fan all that long, Became a fan when they traded Anthony Davis. At the time, I was a Lakers fan, and did not appreciate Rob Pelinka's decision making. I am a HUGE believer in building with youth and draft picks, so thought the Pelicans got the better of the deal.
I have stated on previous posts, and sorry to be such a fair weather fan, but if they don't trade Zion (at least) I won't continue my patronage.
Hope you are having a great day.,
