Amazing how kids keep taking the bait for A&M. Take a bag instead of get developed for a chance at the NFL. Guess expectations are lower at a perennial 8-5 team.

Honestly neither of them were tracking toward the NFL here.

It was too early to tell with M’Pemba, as he had only been on campus for one year, but it’s hard for kids who have never been anything but superstars at every level they have played to suddenly be buried on a depth chart and not be “the man” on your team. M’Pemba could have been a big contributor in a year or two, but never gave it much of a chance.

Humphries was probably right to move on. He was never able to put it together and always seemed to be a liability in coverage. Never got is head around, and it always wound up being a big play or DPI. Wish him well, hope he does better in a new setting, but it’s helped our defense to have him off the field.

I think this was M’Pembas second year on campus.

Edit to add, he got passed up by multiple folks.

I think he was a TE or something until his Junior year in HS. Just may need more time to develop at LB, like Tae Crowder.

This is correct. M’Pemba is going to be a RSo. next season at A&M. Q Johnson passed him for playing time.

I see no issue with humphries leaving. One could argue we might have had a chance there's some games had he got his head around more often than none he would beat a lot. His play in that Bama game really sucked. M'Pemba should have waited another year before deciding to leave It was too early to tell if his development was going to take off or not.

With regard to M’Pemba, most of our defensive contributors and prospective draft picks are getting playing time in their first year or two on campus. I think it’s reasonable to leave after two years with no real tangible progress on the depth chart. Most of our defensive players are not planning on 5 year college careers.

I assume he’s had realistic discussions with UGA staff before deciding to leave. Throw in the arrest last year, and he may very well be making the right call to look for a fresh start.

TAMU is and has always been a mediocre program.
