I really think this needs to be talked about more as it can cause defenses that attack to LOS and put pressure on QBs to be at a disadvantage.

I made a totally amateur and flawed attempt to research this after I noted offensive lineman tackling D Lineman in multiple games and did not see holding called. It didn’t necessarily favor one team over another. They just didn’t call it. The net affect is it helped team with good QBs and receivers giving them more time to let routes develop with less pressure.

My research showed 2 holding calls were made in the first round of the playoffs. Both were in the Penn State vs SMU game. That was the only game with a SEC crew for what it is worth.

Specifically for UGA, limiting our ability to get pressure on the QB will hurt us more than a lot of teams, as

…as we depend on pressure to help our man coverages.

That's wild!

These referees definitely get marching orders from time to time, like the thing where the ref will signal first down and move the chains even when it's a bang bang spot.

If you go to the play by play, expand all the plays and control F or “find” on browser and search “holding”

It was zero for Texas and TN games

Posted in the other thread but Semi and Finals are assigned based on the officials performance score in earlier playoff games and NOT by conference (assume assigned by Shaw).

They told Pat McAfee before the buckeyes game they were going to let them play. They did.

Go watch the 2019 SECCG vs LSU. They got away with murder that game. We would not have won but they were literally tackling our guys

It’s a huge concern; I still have trauma from the Peach Bowl when they tackled our linemen with impunity for the entire game. Seems like it’s not isolated to the playoffs, but they’ve quit calling it by and large, all year long, with the exception being the SECCG.

I’m ok with close engaged holding not getting nit picked as long as it’s called even, but no calls on whoops he is getting away and tackle holds totally favor passing teams.

We have a Big12 crew but it isn’t that one.

Yeah, that’s what they were doing. Tackling any blitz up the middle.
