Transfer portal - more bothersome for football than anything else?

Am I the only one who gets more bothered by football transfers than basketball? We don't have any basketball players on the team that have played more than a year and change of basketball that have been with the program that whole time. Every single junior/senior transferred in. For some reason, that doesn't bother me as much as a much smaller percentage of football players coming and going.

I haven't tried to figure out why I think that way, but I wonder if I'm alone in that thinking.

A team can bring in star player at every position if they wanted to. It is what it is, take advantage of it.

Feel the same. And for me it's because basketball has always had one and done guys.

Football is more of a team game. Basketball is more of a star game.

The portal combined with NIL is probably the worst thing that could have happened than either of them on their own. Makes it pretty much impossible to keep a team together year to year. I know there have always been transfers after a season, but this is just out of control now.

With Basketball it is tough since COVID and about 75% of your roster turns over every year.

The scary part is that we are currently getting the Saban discount in basketball

Annual free agency can be beat with contracts but will the collectives go that route?

Not to say all the success in football hasn't helped, but I'm pretty sure we're getting an Oats discount

In basketball you can throw your best 5 out there and go. Might be small ball with lots of 3s or you may have several bigs and wanna own the paint.

But with football, these guys can't just go play another position. Players are far more likely to miss time due to injuries in football and that also can create problems on gameday.
