Butler and Dantzler think Bama is in. I think the committee doesn't want to hear the fallout if they snub SMU, but I'm sure Saban is on the phone with all his contacts on the committee. I just don't see how they can fit a 3 loss Bama loss team in with their most quality win being over UGA. Seems like Ole Miss has as much argument to get in as a 3 loss SEC team. I think the committee did really want to get 4 SEC teams in. Guess we'll see.

It's a matter of 2 perspectives:
1. Yea, a 3 loss team shouldn't be in the playoffs but this disregards strength of schedule and the quality of the coaching staff and players.
2. Anyone with a brain knows that Bama has better players than SMU, Boise St., Indiana, Arizona St., etc. so if the goal is to have the best teams in the playoffs then Bama should be included.

They’re better than SMU…but so is Ole Miss and South Carolina. I believe they’re taking the position of earning your way into it vs who is actually better. I don’t like it but that’s the only way to do it vs making picks strictly on the eyeball test.

I don’t care. We fought like hell to earn our spot so frick these other teams. Win your damn games.

3 regular season losses vs 1

Can’t lose to 2 6-6 teams like that

What about Alabama's coaching staff screams "good"? They took over an absolutely loaded team and lost 3 games, two of which were to teams with 6 losses. On 247 Alabama is shown as having the most talent than anybody else in college football.

If they had 4 or 5 losses they still would have the best players. Would they still get in? Either they do not have the best players because they did not get up for their games, or their coaching staff is poor for not getting the best (or nothing close to the best) out of their players.

You can't have it both ways.

And, too many forget how UGA stormed back and took the lead. Had it not been for a miracle catch and run by a phenom WR, UGA would have given Bama the most humiliating chock at home loss in probably their history.

BTW, I sure hope that kid transfers. Imagine if he came to UGA like Burton went to Bama. The howls and screams of the Gumps!

I hear you but Bama has 3 losses not 4 or 5 and they beat us in a regular season game.
Who has SMU or any of the teams I listed beaten who are noteworthy?
SMU played 2 ranked teams, BYU and Clemson and lost to both of them.

Saban all PO'd whining about Bama not making the playoffs. He has some points but you have to take into account W-L with this format. He had another good point about needing more conference games. It's pretty apparent the ACC, Big 10, and SEC need more conference games.

The ACC could have a 12 game conference schedule and it would still be a dog shite schedule. Because the ACC is dog shite.

We got bounced IMO unfairly last year so they can sit it out this year.

Yes, but let's face it. We were shell shocked early and came back to take the lead. Yes, they won, but they lost to two 6-6 teams. Had they been beaten by us and beat either Vanderbilt OR Oklahoma, they would have been in. But they got lucky against us and got beaten by two mediocre to bad teams.

Nobody. But more to the point, they also didn't get beaten by two bad teams, either. One could be overlooked, but not two.

Key. They lost to two ranked teams. Alabama lost to two unranked teams. If it is my team, I would prefer to get beaten by two teams that are ranked.

But they did. Clemson would be 6-6 with either Vandy or USC’s schedule. BYU also only has one ranked win…SMU.

Nobody knows this. I hate it when people say stuff like that as if it is a fact. You can speculate. You can guess. But you don't know how things might have played out in a game that wasn't played.
Saying stuff like that is like Alabama fans saying they were better in 2021 and proved it because they beat us with Williams and Metchie. never mind we had injuries. Never mind how all of the other factors in the games were different.

There are certain things you can state as a fact. Those are what happened already. You cannot say something that never happened is a fact of what would have happened.

Want some facts? Alabama lost to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. SMU did not. They won the games they were supposed to win. Alabama did not.
