The Lone Star Showdown was always the ultimate Thanksgiving tradition. It was fun, football and turkey. Unfortunately it never really had any significance on the national stage. It was consistently a one-sided affair. Little brother trying to piss in our mashed potatoes.

Fast forward to yesterday, A&M had a SEC Title/Playoff berth on the line. How times have changed. Ya’ll really ran off and made something of yourselves, 8-4 in the SEC is better than 6-6 in the Big12. You had to throw the State of Texas under the bus to do it, but look at y'all now. Over a decade later and everything you ever wanted was right in front of you.

Congratulations to A&M for that. This matchup had the eyes of Texas and the nation upon it. The stakes were rare air for A&M. You still got manhandled and emasculated, but what a night. I really enjoyed myself. Aggie tailgaters treated me like a king. Beer and BBQ was tossed at me all the way to the gate. Hopefully next year will be a similar situation in Austin.

Beyond the fact I think any "birth" during football season should be banned, I agree with your post.

Is A&M better off than they were in the Big 12? Absolutely. Congrats on the win.

They seem about the same to me. Go around 500 in conference and win the easy non conference games to get to 7 or 8 wins.
