Did aTm do the right thing by canning Jimbo and throwing away all that money?

Jimbo was a bad decision. The aggys did the smart thing..for once.

They should have just kept Sumlin, but hindsight is 20/20….

Obviously it was a bad contract to begin with (very much a Scott hire like Kelly) and made worse by basing huge extension on the covid season, but Jimbo looked like a slob, had zero energy, and seemed to get run over by his players (seems like this started after deal with his first wife and a player at FSU).
It was just going to get worse. Firing would have had to happened after one or two more seasons anyway with them then ending up worse off than after last season. I think paying those 1 to 2 additional years early to get a head start on improving was worth it.
There aren’t many Sabans out there who actually seemed to work as hard or even harder after he signed large guaranteed contracts. Long term huge guaranteed contracts are the problem for most hires other then Saban, but that is the Scott way.
