We were a college before California was a state. You can continue to call Southern Cal sc or usc or whatever you want to call them. Keep repeating the big 10 tagline.They are big 10 trash, directional school with good lawyers who have never won anything without cheating. Keep giving them credit calling them USC. We are the real USC and always will be. Join the club or be a big 10 lover. Also Georgia is a convict state. Ashamed of them. Just threw that in for fun.

Never heard South Carolina referred to as USC on a national broadcast, that's reserved for the University of Southern California, SC for short

Actually ESPN had referred to us as USC multiple times lately. Somebody pulled their head out of that arse. We would spank Southern Cal in any sport you name

Couldn't this be resolved by South Carolina simply changing their designation to SCU indicating South Carolina University?
Everyone calls your school and team South Carolina anyway, why not just change it to SCU to prevent the confusion that arises when people are talking about the more established and storied USC in Los Angeles.
Santa Clara University doesn't have a football team so there should be no confusion there and SCU credit unions are mostly in Missouri and Illinois and they don't have football teams either.
South Carolina could be instantly recognizable as SCU. Problem solved.

South Carolina has rarely amounted to anything of value in college football and virtually no one knows them as USC.
Why try to take another team's name that has been earned and has a bit of prestige attached to it?
South Carolina being known as USC is never going to be a thing. There is no good reason that South Carolina can't change their name to South Carolina University.
When the abbreviation of SCU was used, then everyone would know which team was being discussed. It's a win/win for everyone.
