Do Tennessee fans think he will ever relinquish the play calling duties?

He has proved to have a VERY average offense against teams with a pulse on defense.

Who is he going to relinquish the offense to?

And yes, Petrino is a much better play caller than a lot of people, but especially Heupel.

Maybe I could have phrased the question better…would he consider bringing in someone to call plays

Probably not. He doesn't seem like the bend-with-the-wind kind of guy.

It was a terribly called game but I wouldn’t trade Heupel as a play caller for anyone. I would bring Alex Golesh back because he is superior in every way to Hazle but Golesh is going to be a HC for a while and in a few years he will be.making noise at a P5.

The Briles offense will go extinct in this league, and that can't happen fast enough.

Yes, Alex Golesh leaving was a big loss. Halzle is a big downgrade.

Doubtful. If Nico was as experienced as Hooker at reading the defense and assuming the Vols have the receivers to execute the offense they'd still be racking up 500 yards.

I can't argue with this after watching the Tennessee/Arkansas game over and over on repeat.

My question to Arkansas fans is why in the heck did you ever fire him in the first place?

You wallowed in years of mediocrity all just for the sake of feigning a moral highground. The guy can flat out coach.

I'm sure not i can agree on Heupel.

He's just way too conservative unless we are playing against a cupcake.

He also made zero adjustments at the half against the only two good defenses we have played.

If we lose this Florida game because of conservation play calling again then his seat will be getting a little warm for the first time since he's been in Knoxville.

Also, they need wayyyy more designed runs for Nico and they need to stop dropping him straight back straight in the pocket while everything collapses around and infront of him ay after play.

Like i get it that they are grooming him as a real pocket passer, but at the end of the day the goal is to win football games not just groom your QB for the future.

Heupel needs to do a better job at identifying our strengths and designing his play calling around those strengths instead of trying to stubbornly turn Nico into a pocket passer this season because we don't have the proper personnel to play like that against good defenses.

Does this really need to be rehashed?

There is no "reading the defense" in the Briles system. Nico won't get any better with "experience" because that has nothing to do with how it's ran.

Would you stop repeating this nonsense already?

We have a freshman QB who's starting left tackle is getting owned every snap and we aren't successful calling plays around it.

It's as simple as that.

No, because I know your offense better than you, amateur. It's that simple.

Be interesting to see if he gets the HC job this offseason. He seems too sharp to be a coordinator.

You clearly do not. It doesn't matter what scheme you are running when your starting left tackle is laying down every play and your freshman QB doesn't know how to mitigate it.

Your starting LT is the least of your problems.

Impending obsolescence is your problem. But I'm happy to watch your fanbase whistle past the graveyard and tear itself apart blaming this and that with zero understanding of how your offense even works.

Florida should throw the kitchen sink at Petrino.

I do believe a Petrino coached Florida team could wreck some havoc. He's better than Kiffin imo.
