Currently? A series of several bad decisions dating back to 2017.

A string of questionable consecutive hiring decisions will do it in a hurry

Meanwhile, we hired Husky Harsin who can only beat lightweights like USC and Cal...

I mean I get that I just thought it would get turned around quicker than it has. The resources are clearly there.

Pull up a chair .. it all began around 2017 when Auburn hired Steven Leath from Iowa State as its new president. At the end of 2017 Auburns AD, Jay Jacobs, was forced to resign for numerous reasons. This resulted in Leath (who was not a great fit at Au and did not care much for football) having to spearhead the new AD search. He hired Allen Green, young guy from Seattle who was the AD for Buffalo at the time. Another head scratching decision, long story short all Greene did was hire Harsin and almost lose Bruce Pearl.

Backing up before Harsin, the wheels began to fall off the Gus Bus.. under Gus Auburn finished no better than 5th in the SEC recruiting (would be 7th if you factor in UT and OU who undoubtedly out recruited AU from 2013-2020), he recruited skill positions well but could not get big time o linemen which is a big problem if your offense is built on running the ball in the SEC. He also couldn’t manage to win a game in Tuscaloosa Athens or BR (not to mention his overall record vs these schools was abysmal).

It was undeniably time to move on from Gus but we had to rely on a brand new AD to make that decision and he made a poor one. Harsin was even worse at recruiting and inherited a middle of the road roster at best so the talent deficit grew exponentially in the 1.5 years he was the coach.

Enter Hugh Freeze who has recruited laps around the last 2 regimes. His biggest mistake thus far has been not taking a QB from the portal last cycle, but in all honesty we are much more than a good qb away from being good again. We’d probably be 4-0 right now though..

I get that. Wondering if they throw a tantrum and try to use that as evidence that you’re obsessed with them.

The one thing BAMA and UGA fans know we can agree on, Fauburn.

I don't mind laughing. I just need everyone to understand that auburn being in the bottom 1/3 is generally where they are supposed to be. So this year is not some big surprise. Now that Oklahoma and Texas joined, it only solidifies that fact more.

I think Arkansas will win another SEC game, but your skepticism makes sense

The day before the SEC championship when Gus was given the asinine extension.
