Offensive Plays Per Game for SEC Teams

Thinking back to the anchored thread where Gerald Mincey said Kentucky's tempo on offense is faster than Tennessee's tempo, I thought it might be good to look at the current offensive paces for SEC teams in both number of offensive plays per game and number of offensive plays per minute (pace) so far.
Average Offensive Plays Per Game divided by Average Time of Possession, excluding OT = Pace in plays per minute (*note for FBS Opponents Only):
1. MSU - 58.0/19:47 = 2.93
2. Ole Miss - 76.0/26:50 = 2.83
3. Arkansas - 96.0/36:14 = 2.65
4. Oklahoma - 66.0/26:43 = 2.47
5t. aTm - 69.0/28:25 = 2.43
5t. Auburn - 60.0/24:44 = 2.43
7. Texas - 71.5/31:01 = 2.31
8. Florida - 57.0/25:30 = 2.23
9. Bama - 68.5/30:54 = 2.22
10. Missouri - 83.0/38:21 = 2.16
11. UT - 67.0/31:28 = 2.13
12. USCe - 66.5/31:42 = 2.10
13. LSU - 64.0/33:00 = 1.94
14. Vandy - 66.0/34:32 = 1.91
15. Georgia - 61.0/32:42 = 1.87
16. Kentucky - 55.0/31:08 = 1.77
A couple of observations:
- Both offenses in Mississippi are flying right now with regards to pace.
- 6 of the 8 slowest paced offenses are from the former SEC East.
- The Highest ranked (and what is probably the lowest ranked) SEC offenses are the two slowest paced.
- Gerald Mincey doesn't really understand what pace means.

How is TN not #1 in this with what that coach runs?

Yes but the male species loves numbers.

We ran at a snails pace the entire second half of the Chattanooga game and slowed down quite a bit when the lead got big against NC State. That will change when we hit conference play.

It will also change when your defense starts giving up big plays because they're gassed.

Curious to know what the pace is relative to last year. Since coaches can talk to QB in the headset pre snap I predict everyone across the board will be slower.

Male species...
You do know gender is not a species, right?
Actually, given your school, you probably don't.

Interesting insight, am I right sm1?

Our tempo is a bit skewed because NCState game planned against the big play. Their intention was to prevent a blowout by taking away a lot of the passing game. They forgot we run the ball A LOT and they had no answer when we showed off the shiny new TEs we picked up during the offseason to run 12 personnel. We outcoached them badly.

We have a good bit of quality depth on defense. When we give up big plays, it’ll be because our unproven secondary makes a mistake and not fatigue.
