Could Brian Kelly ever recover from a loss to USC?

Third straight season with an opening game loss.

2022: Loses to FSU. Then blowout losses to Tennessee, aTm, and UGA

2023: Loses to FSU in a blowout. Then squeeks by Arkansas, loses to Ole Miss, and blowout loss to Alabama.

And all of that with the eventual Heisman winner at QB throwing to two first round receivers.

Would Kelly lose the fan base with another loss in the opener?

It would depend on the rest of the season. Losing the opener and then beating Bama later in the year would go a long way to get the fan base back on board.

I don't think SECR would ever recover from the insufferableness of RatRodTrojan AKA Jet"Dawg"

It would suck but he'll redeem himself when he donkey-punches Ole Miss and Alabama later on in the season.

You really need to focus on your own SEC untested coach and quit worrying about BK.

Two of the first four responses say it’s ok as long as he beats Bama. Has LSU become the new Auburn? I’m genuinely curious if LSU has lowered expectations this much?

Yes, but i suspect that his defense still sucking will be the ultimate wake up call for LSU fans. Zero excuses for a terrible defense in year three.

You are probably right. The why would matter more than the loss itself. A defensive slugfest where Nuss plays poorly but drastically improves throughout the season along with a great defense might redeem him. More bad D would have to be nail in coffin unless something drastic has changed with LSU fans.

Miles and Orgeron both won titles and didn’t get the same benefit of the doubt following those titles that BK seems to get with zero rings.

It would be a bad look but I can't see this particular USC team beating LSU unless their defense doesn't improve over the off season.

Stop trolling.

Does anyone seriously believe that a team from sissy Los Angeles could win a home game at the start of the season against LSU?

I bet you can't even give me one example of something like that happening.

Lincoln Riley has his faults but he has never had a bad offense. This is a damn tough game for a supposedly improved defense to prove it.

Imagine that.... a bama fan with a new HC replacing nicky, and they have LSU on the brain.
