Does the Schloss debacle remind anyone else of JetGate?

Some people at Auburn got fired over that shite. Interviewing Petrino for the job in secret prior to the Iron Bowl. Louisville's AD was never notified. Of course, once the word got out and all hell broke loose the deal never materialized, but as I recall Petrino had a clause in his contract that he was not to meet with or interview for a job with anyone without providing notice to Louisville's AD. I have to think Schloss had a similar clause in his contract with A&M, and I would bet that clause specifically mentioned the University of Texas at Austin in bold font.

He never would have agreed to the deal if that was in place. The best that could be done was a pretty substantial buyout penalty ($5 million I believe) if he leaves to coach at any school in Texas.

Are you sure? Jay Johnson said in an interview when asked about the Texas job that he had not been contacted, and if he had been our AD would be the first to know because he is contractually required to give him notice. I think these clauses are pretty standard in these coaches' contracts.

A clause forbidding you to contact certain schools, when his frick buddy (Del Conte) was already in place as their AD?

The clause states that if another school contacts you about a job you have to put your current AD on notice. It wouldn't prevent him from interviewing with another school as long as Alberts was notified.
