They just can’t admit they were wrong. That’s the SEC for you.

Perfect post. SEC Umps are like the Louisville Police after arresting Scottie Schefler for not immediately stopping on command at the golf course parking lot.

Also, baseball rule 6.02 (b) says it’s strike 3 before the play even happens because a batter is not allow to leave the box while a pitch is being thrown.

The worst part was commentators and phoned-in ump trying to sell the terrible call as if it were correct.

The commentators mostly were saying the umps got it wrong.

The commentators were pretty adamant that it was the wrong call. The rules official immediately led with “I’m not discussing the call”, so that pretty much seals that it was wrong. SEC has no issue commentating when it’s right.

Rule 6.02 (b) says nothing like that. What are you talking about?

The batter can leave at any time and it’s a ball or strike based on umpires call (rule 7.01b), AND, the batter is allowed to leave the box any time a defensive player attempts to make a play on a runner at any base (rule 7.01 (d.1.d)).

That call was wrong for so many reasons.

Easily the worst call I can remember in nearly 50 years of watching baseball
