I think it makes NIL even more important. If the schools are all offering the same rates on average, the publicity/endorsement deals can provide an edge.

Yes, but a contract means we don't have players leaving every year.

This ^^ right here. Anyone rejoicing thinking this will level the playing field is sadly mistaken.
