IMO:
1957 and 2010 are our two actual, indisputable National Titles
1983 and 2004 should not be claimed, but are probably the two biggest screw jobs any program has endured in the past 50 years (I’d put 1964 Arkansas right up there on this list as well as the worst all time)
1913 is stupid to claim now… as all titles are pre-1936. However, as ancient, retroactive titles go, it’s got as much merit as any other team’s titles claimed prior to 1936. We were certainly the best team that year based on all the data that exists.
1993 was a great year and should be celebrated for what it was. As stupid as that probation was, it was due to some improprieties. Had Auburn managed to play for the SEC Title and beat Florida a second time…. Then had we won the Sugar Bowl against unbeaten West Virginia… I think we would have had a shot of a split National Title with FSU.
But we don’t know. Blame that on Auburn along with all the other close calls (ie 1958… had we not tied GA Tech we’d be ‘58 champs instead of LSU). Of course we also narrowly missed in ‘13.
Bottom line. Auburn has two national titles…. We’ve twice been majorly screwed… we probably have an ancient one from back before actual National Titles existed…. and we’ve had numerous other great seasons that were a hair short of probably winning another one.
All this spread out over a 110-year period that spanned many generations. Quite the contrast to what the theme of this thread is.

At this point, I completely disagree with your entire assessment of which titles Auburn University should claim. Im not going through one by one

Preach, brother! We are SO impressed. Fourteen years since a bought and paid for QB and a thug who should have been arrested made AU proud.
It’s been 14 years, a couple of huge buy outs and a lot of embarrassments since y’all can claim anything of any importance.
And now a Bible thumping whore hiring fellow is leading your program. Never change AU. Its a lot of fun watching the constant drama y’all create and even more fun to pound y’all into the turf every year
