I’m confused because that looked good to me but then they said he had to use the green bag and he clearly stepped on the white bag but all the announcers were immediately like “yea that’s good” and the umpires confirmed he was safe
Am I missing something?

I have no idea. I haven't been able to watch much this week and have no idea what the green bag is for.

I was confused about that as well.
He clearly ran to the white bag which seems to defeat the entire purpose of the safety bag.
