Regionality still means a lot for the smaller sports, basically anything not named football. (I’d argue even Men’s Basketball)

Keeping travel costs down leads to the already large payouts going way further, and fields much more competitive teams in the sports nobody really cares about like the Olympic sports or softball or whatever.

Notre Dame brings a lot to the table but I don’t think they add enough eyeballs to offset the regional disruption they would cause. Besides any of that I don’t see why they would want to hitch their wagon to us over the B1G to begin with, they just seem like that type of university
