Actually a decent point but is the sec really to blame? The story we were “told”……. is Texas and Ou approached the sec and said let us in or we are going to the big ten. Obviously laws dictate the sec can’t approach another conference member but it could still be true. Either way the sec or Texas initiated this round of expansion. The big is going to 24 teams and for those that say fine let ‘em just know when it’s time to negotiate playoff spots they will bully the sec and get more spots.
Let the Big10 grow.
Let them have all four time zones.
Let their xtra jumbo pizza feed 24 slices.
Let our jumbo pizza feed 16 slices.
Then in the future, let’s allpare back down to 6 or 7 leagues of 10/12 teams when we realize that expansion watered down the two best conferences.
Get the old SWC, big8 and big east back and we can have radial, regional rivalries.
Usc and ND can still have their rivalry.
Go look at the sec’s schedules back in the mid 80s. They were awesome

The 48 or 64 team super league does this. Let the league do TV deals and pay players and have limited NIL ownership. Let the league control schedules with 2 conferences and let the old conferences be the divisions in the conference. That allows regional integrity in rivalries and interesting matchups to drive TV revenue. Let the players be employees of the league to allow a reset of transfer guidelines to the old NCAA limited transfer rules. This also eliminates any Title IX nonsense as it removes scholarships for football. The student athletes can still get non athletic scholarships as a means to supplement their pay as well as NIL deals (limited and approved by the league).
Schools would still pay coaches and staffs and receive a lump sum of the TV rights. Schools not in the league would continue on as before. Pay would scale based on travel team vs practice squad players.
Bowls are play off games with real interest leading to an actual title game based on merit.
That is the future.

Yet nobody wants to INCREASE # of conferences.
