Thats always a risk but if you recruited players that have priorities above the money (not that money doesn't matter at all) AND you are fair to your roster, meaning the best players make the most and it trickles down from there. Then you shouldn't run in to that issue as much.

Its like having a wife while making $80k a year. If all she cares about is how much you make then she might look at the guy making $200k a year and say I'd rather get divorced and marry him. BUT if you have a wife that holds the same values as you and you don't cheat on her (over pay a rent a player) then your $80k will be enough for her.

Maybe not a perfect analogy but the point is that its about setting the precedent on how money will be handled/distributed on your team based on performance AND recruiting players whose goals are to win a NC and go to the NFL more than chase the cash in college.

Perkins did stay all 3 years so this is a dumb hypothetical. The money aspect isn't the only part of roster retention but over paying average players is definitely a recipe for disaster.

I suppose no one can refute you until the teams that overpay, win a lot.
And it doesn’t have to be “overpay”. It can be teams that have their ducks in a row for NIL.

The HP hypothetical is not dumb. I just picked a name. But to ease your feels, it could be anyone. It could be key members of the offense steamrolling the other defenses that are tired of producing, while we failed to add our missing piece on the Dline.

Just asking, you think that helps the locker room?

Very interesting annalogy after you say Hp hypo is dumb.

Marrying a woman while making 80k or 200k doesn’t win you a national title in 2024.

Youre right, you lost me.
