Honest Answer: investment

It takes 120 million a year to run a successful football program

It takes 50-60 million a year to run a successfully basketball program

It takes 20 million a year to run a successful baseball program

It’s hard to be able to consistently spread the resources and most schools want to prioritize football over everything else. Most try to atleast field respectable teams for those 3 but end up shortchanging all 3. Vandy is all in on baseball and don’t care about winning in the other 2.

Arky has enough baseball boosters to keep them for being cut in favor of football or basketball. They don’t have enough nil money to consistently win titles but are in the sweet spot of enjoying good competitive baseball.

Getting booster money for football isn't the problem as the boosters have been very reluctant on spending millions on football that has been bad since joining the SEC.

The hiring of Cal and paying him more than the football coach means that Arkansas is no longer a football first school.

Football is getting more NIL money but not some serious amount and supposedly the Hunt family was unaware that football was behind many or most SEC schools in NIL.
