Making the dance looks better on ones resume.
Making a run in the nit and winning it is good for teams with young players who are returning but that is getting rare. If a player lights it up in that run there’s a good chance he’ll be plucked by a bigger name team with more cash.
It’s a shame, but the good old days in sports is long gone now.
