Three things are correct.
1) Saban is right about NIL ruining college football because of entitled players.
2) Saban and many other coaches contributed to players feeling entitled to compensation after decades of under the table deals with select players and coaches salaries rising to absurd levels.
3) The NCAA never had any real power to enforce their player restrictions and the curtain is being pulled back on the wizard of oz.

Boom. This was my issue with what Saban said. I agreed with the message, but he was a huge part of the problem that ended up with the mess we’re in. At this point the only way to move forward is to regulate and salary cap it. Get the money from TV and such. Players aren’t going to go back to the old way. And boosters aren’t going to fund unproven college players for much longer. They didn’t get rich by spending their careers investing their money in something with little to no return.
I wonder if they’ll even make the players take classes at the school anymore. LSU’s not exactly Harvard but it’s no picnic either, who wants to study when you’re already making 6 figures and have serious NFL potential? If they’re not taking classes in college I wonder how that will change fan interest, because they’ll essentially just be mercenaries with “LSU” on their helmets, and nothing more.
