Yet college football society is broken

It sure as shite isn't broken for the ones college is supposed to benefit: the players.

1. Fans are going to keep watching. Interest will not wane. Programs will still make money.

2. $15,000,000 coaching staffs will just have to deal with keeping their rosters intact year after year. I know I feel sorry for them when they are all more than willing to leave players hanging if a better job offer comes along.

3. Fans will just have to deal with the fact that Johnny Fivestar isn't headed to Tuscaloosa to jump on a grenade for the Tide. He's in pursuit of money and opportunity. Deal with it or don't watch.

Might encourage coaches to take pay cuts to fill a roster

Saban's not necessarily wrong about a lot of this, but it's more about he couldn't have total control anymore. That's why he retired. The rest of his stuff about love of the game yada yada is just sugar coating on that fact.

When he was flying on private jets and helicoptering in to see recruits he didn't stop and say, damn this is really unfair to smaller schools who don't have the budget to do this. Is this what we want the game to be?

He's old and a lot of other teams have deeper pockets than Alabama. It is what it is.

False.

I did not watch the games last year. I've been a fan for near half a century, and I did not pay for live TV last year to watch the games.

I did not watch a single bowl game, where in the past I would watch almost all of them.

I did not watch the SECCG, even though Alabama is in it. Something I wouldn't have missed for the world a few years ago.

I did not watch the playoffs at all. I did not watch the Alabama vs Michigan game. Another thing I wouldn't have missed for the world a few years ago.

I think I caught 2 games on TV, and that was the CBS broadcasts. Any others I listened to on the radio, or I skipped completely.

Next season, I expect to not watch a single game.

Nascar said the same shite. And I went from making sure I watched every race on Sunday to I can't even remember the last time I watched a Nascar race.
