NO rivalry is kept but the Iron Bowl
I think you misunderstood.
But if you didn't then show me a solution with a complete schedule built in. And that one preserves:
Annually:
Texas vs Oklahoma
LSU vs Ole Miss
LSU vs MSU
OM bs MSU
Alabama vs Tennessee
Tennessee vs Vanderbilt
Tennessee vs Kentucky
Auburn vs Georgia
Florida vs Georgia
Auburn vs Florida
Georgia vs USC
Adds these annually:
Texas vs Arkansas
Oklahoma vs Arkansas
LSU vs A&M
Missouri vs Oklahoma
Missouri vs Arkansas
And at least increases to two/thirds of years (instead of 50%):
Alabama vs LSU
LSU vs Florida
Florida vs Tennessee
Georgia vs Kentucky
OM vs Arkansas
Alabama vs Auburn
MSU vs Kentucky
Missouri vs USC
LSU vs Oklahoma
Alabama vs Oklahoma
OM vs Vanderbilt

If they're referencing groups/pods/divisions/WHATEVER, then yes I CAN say the SEC is keeping same states together.
BUT, to shrink conference member #'s INCREASES the # of conferences....& not too many want to do that.
So, you have to work with what you've got.

Not to jump back on the soap box, but my plan of 4x4 pods where you played your 3 pod mates, a paired pod for that year, & your 1 perm in the other 3 pods (basically a 6 perm/3 rotating) format takes 6 years for a full rotation would have worked.
It keeps all rivalries & doesn't require any tiebrekers.
But, for whatever reason, a 4 year cycle (no matter the conference size) is being pushed.
Sorry, but with the SEC's history, we're being forced between timing or rivalries.

In your posting, the only teams I saw that had a rivalry opponent listed was Ala. & Aub.. You didn't even have Tenn./Vandy nor Miss./MSU. (Those should have been automatic.)

You misread the post. The groups (or pods if you want) were in the first part of the post.
The opponents played more frequently were detailed in the second half. You misread the second half of the post as the three permanent proposal. The three fixed solution doesn't work in a vacuum without other structure because of everything from balancing schedules to having two teams for a conference championship game

Thank you for the explanation. It was taken as the 3 team selection.
I believe the ONLY FAIR decision would be a true round robin format each year, but that goes back to the smaller-sized conferences issue.
