I'm not denigrating the blues history of Memphis. But I'd argue that it's not part of the Mississippi Delta no matter what marketing ploy the city claims.

Even if Elvis moved there at one time, he's FROM Tupelo, which is DEFINITELY not part of the Mississippi Delta.

Here's a map for you:

I have never heard of anyone from Memphis or the surrounding areas say that Memphis isn't part of the Delta.

Elvis was born in Tupelo but he graduated from Humes High School in Memphis back in 1953.

So both Mississippi and Tennessee can claim Elvis and I don't see what the big deal is with that.
