There are certain areas in BR that are definitely dangerous, however, I've never felt like I was in danger anywhere on LSU's campus. Now, north of LSU (between LSU and downtown BR) - that's not where you want to be walking around at night. But the areas to the east, south, and west (Miss. River) are safe.
The very worst of BR is basically North BR between Florida Blvd and the airport. Don't go there.

Anything north of Florida Blvd is somewhere you want to stay away from. I work somewhat near O'Neal and Florida. The homeless population there is out of control and there's always sketchy arse people out and about.
