I remember going to Austin in the 70s & 80s to games with my dad and having a great time. Austin was once upon a time a really cool city. It has become a shite hole extraordinaire and will never be the same again.

Austin has changed and it will never be the same. But to calling it a shite hole is way wrong.

It is now a metro area approaching 2.5 million people, about 2 million more than when I graduated. The California transplants get the press, but there are shite loads of people from A&M and TTech & Ohio St and Penn St and a bunch of other colleges and states from across the country. Thankfully, most of the LSU grads get stopped in Houston and never make it this far. Just kidding!

The one's I meet are generally okay, but collectively, I wish the 2+ million out of towner's would go back home.

Regardless, Austin has a vibrant lifestyle and an aesthetic appeal that most US cities can only dream about.

Like any large city, it has issues. Their are a few posters here who can point you to all the homeless camps and dildo stores, if that's your preference.

Or, you could gravitate towards some of the more pleasing things in life.

Number of states visited; 44
Number of cities visited; too many to count
List of cities with natural, limestone, spring fed, crystal clear water, swimming areas;

In Texas, every town or city from San Antonio to New Braunfels to San Marcos to Austin to Georgetown.

Outside of Central Texas; maybe Fayetteville? Help me out here!

There is one unique reason Austin is the Capitol.
