The most it would be padded is by one game (since UGA in the playoffs could play 2 games against ranked teams instead of 1 for a non-playoff team).

Just proves the point. In order for that one game "pad" to matter, UGA had to play a good number of ranked teams.

Last year UGA beat #8, #9 and #17 in the regular season. They lost to #5 in the SECCG. Then beat #6 in a bowl.

Bama also had 4 wins against top 25 opponents. So did Texas. Michigan had 5. Washington had 3.

Even without having the extra playoff game, there was only one team that had more top 25 wins than UGA in college football (the national champ). By definition, that means UGA's schedule is on par with the best, unless you feel like taking one unranked team off and putting another unranked team on the schedule really makes it more difficult.
