What an individual, even the president of the NCAA, says really doesn't matter if you can actually look at what's in the rulebook and find a different answer.

The NCAA has one rule on NIL. It's right here in the bylaws:

"22.01.2 Offers and Inducements. Name, image and likeness activities may not be used as an inducement for an individual to enroll or remain enrolled at a specific institution."

No pay for play. That's the one rule for NIL. That's what the state of Tennessee is suing the NCAA to remove so there would be no rules.

Oddly enough….had the collective given the kid the jet as a form of payment and then he flys into Knoxville, it wouldn’t have been a violation.

We all know that there will be NIL packages available for players, but you simply can't combine NIL money with the recruitment process.

Spyre is trying to project a stance that their contractual agreement was neutral which everyone knows is a steaming pile of BS.

This is all compounded by Tennessee's recent track record of pay to play.

Whoever it was on the Tennessee staff that thought it was OK to go along with Spyre needs a swift kick or...
