I don't know why people are freaking out. Grubb likely delayed his departure until after the Transfer Portal closed. Bad optics or not, I couldn't care less. It helps us and gives the players an opportunity to go through spring practice with the new OC before deciding on whether or not they want to stay when the portal re-opens after A-Day.

Opposing fans are just pissed because they won't be able to make fun of us if more players decide to leave.

Yeah, I’m confused.

It’s DeBoer’s offense - it really doesn’t matter who he has - or if he calls his own plays. THEY RUN HIS OFFENSE. His OC calls the plays based on weekly meetings and in-game changes based on the what the top dog - the HC - approves. Grubb didn’t make DeBoer, it was the other way around.

I mean there was many a defensive player who came to Bama due to Saban - regardless of the DC. As Coach changed offensive philosophy over the years, they came for that as well. Kirby didn’t make Saban, it was the other way around.

I thought this board was staying away from the BS from other boards and sites. This is utter nonsense.

People let their hate of Alabama cloud their judgement. All you have to do is look at the timing to realize Grubb was most likely the Seahawks second choice, with Kelly being their first. OSU is paying Kelly a good bit more than Seattle would have, so he picked there. I honestly think that if BC hadn't hired O'Brien, that Kelly would have been the OC in Seattle.
