If the NCAA finds the school was supposed to suspend a player for a pay for play NIL deal and failed to do so, the NCAA is supposed to sanction the school.
The AD's opinion doesn't matter.
And the reality is nobody is actually trying to claim that Nico wasn't paid to attend UT. They're just trying to claim that it's okay to do so.
The NCAA bylaws are quite clear that it's not okay.

You aren’t listening. They are quoting the changes to how collectives are viewed. Read Danny White’s statement on the matter. They found nothing associated to UT.
