In the 1969 NFL draft, the 19th pick was, Roger Wehrli out of Missouri. He has also earned himself a place in the NFL Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame. But today’s NFL draft format is considered to start from 1970 officially. Hence Cooper remains the first technically.

The answer is Roger Wehrli. The Missouri All American, College football Hall of Famer, and NFL Hall of Famer was the first round selection of the St Louis Cardinals in the 1969 NFL draft.

I simply said NFL draft. I said nothing about a format or the merger or during leap years or his religion.

Roger Wehrli was a white cornerback selected in the first round of the NFL draft. Period.

Great question!

Not sure if Niner great Eric Wright was a first or second round pic. Heck, could be Wehrli? Maybe William Moore? Possibly Rakestraw in 2024?

I knew that already but I withheld my answer so you could finish the flex. And what a fine flex it was.
