Not going to talk trash about Texas and the Director's cup. They knocked off Stanford for that thing.
Granted, it had mostly been Texas massively underachieving given their resources for decades... but getting over top of Stanford was considered pretty much impossible because they owned the "nobody gives a shite" sports.

We may not care as much about football as some, but there is a pretty big commitment by the university to Olympic sports. UT athletes have won 88 gold medals.
